Favorite Hair Products of 2019

I’ve been wearing my hair in it’s natural state for going on 4 years now. I love trying new hair products to see what my hair responds well to, and sharing my results with my subscribers/followers. Over the years, I have my go to products that I keep in my natural hair product stash, and have narrowed them down to my top favorites! Keep reading to see which products I can always count on to help my type 4 hair stay healthy and moisturized.

1. Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave In Conditioner

I’ve been using this product since the beginning of this hair journey. I love using this before twist outs or braids outs, and it helps keep my hair moisturized for days. I also love using this product when styling high puffs on old hair. A few of the key ingredients in this is Shea Butter, Peppermint and Apple Cider Vinegar, which my scalp and hair loves! Apple Cider is a disinfectant and can help control fungi and bacteria. It can help treat itchy scalp or infections. Peppermint oil is also an antimicrobial and anti inflammatory. Shea Butter is an excellent sealant and helps trap moisture in the hair.

2. Alikay Naturals- Shea Yogurt Hair Moisturizer

I like using this product when I’m in need of a firmer hold. This product is thick, and super moisturizing making it perfect for those with low porosity hair. I add this in conjunction with a leave in conditioner of choice and then styler. I’m a big fan of the entire Alikay Naturals line, but this is my top pick from the line so far. Raw Shea Butter, coconut oil and Argan oil are the key ingredients in this moisturizer, and all work to prevent breakage, reduce frizz and revive dull hair. My hair literally comes out perfect every time after using this when styling.

3. Creme of nature Pure Moisturizing honey shampoo

After using this line, I discovered my love for products with honey. I love shampoos that make it easy for me to detangle my hair while washing. This shampoo makes my wash days so much easier by softening my hair as I’m washing making detangling a breeze. Honey seals moisture in your hair, so is great for us kinky, coily babes. Honey can also restore the natural shine of your hair with it’s humectant properties.

4. Raw Sugar Moisture Smoothie + Coconut + Agave + Sweet Almond Milk

This is another shampoo I love! This shampoo also makes detangling in the shower super easy, and really softens my strands when using. I’ve heard some people say coconut oil doesn’t help with softening their hair, and actually makes their hair feel more rough. I don’t use coconut oil alone, but it has worked great for me as an ingredient in this shampoo. If you haven’t tried many products with coconut, I would test it out to see how this product works for you, as it’s now one of my top favorites!

5. NaturALL Club - Styling Flaxseed Curl Custard with Yogurt

I recently tried this brand for the first time, and am in love! This is a styler from the NaturALL Club line, and provides a medium hold. The consistency of this product is a bit watery, but makes the hair feel so soft. I also don’t have to use a lot of this product when styling, and makes for the perfect soft, but still defined twist out or braid out without the stiffness. Flaxseed contains important omega 3 fatty acids that help strengthen hair and nourish the scalp!

6. Aunt Jackies Grapeseed Style Frizz Patrol Anti Poof Twist & Curl Setting Mousse

I’ve never had a go to mousse for rod sets, until using this product. My curls always turn out so smooth after using this to roll my hair. the top ingredients in this is grapeseed, tamanu and jojoba oils which all 3 work together to create frizz free styles. This product truly lives up to its name, so if you’re in need of a new setting mousse, I definitely suggest checking this one out!
